How to share wedding photos with guests using a QR code
After a wedding, the usual routine is painful: the photographer uploads thousands of pictures, the family shares a link in a WhatsApp group, and guests scroll through hundreds of photos hoping to spot themselves. Many give up. A QR code fixes this: every guest scans once, takes a selfie, and gets only the photos they appear in.
The problem with the old way
- Too many photos. A guest wants maybe 10 of 3,000 pictures. Finding them takes patience most people don't have.
- Groups and links get messy. Photos get compressed in chat apps, links expire, and guests ask the couple (or you) to "send mine".
- Delivery takes weeks. Guests ask "when will we get the photos?" while the excitement of the event is already gone.
How QR photo sharing works
- The photographer uploads the event photos to a gallery. Faces are found in the photographer's browser while the photos upload.
- One QR code is shown at the venue (on a table card, a standee or the invitation). It points to that event's page.
- Guests scan it with the phone camera. There is no app to install; the page opens in the browser.
- A short live selfie scan (look straight, then turn left and right) finds the guest's face among the event photos.
- The guest sees and saves their own photos, one by one or all at once.
What to look for in a platform
- No app for guests. Every extra step loses people. The scan should work in the phone's normal browser.
- Privacy by default. On a private event a guest should only get photos their own face is in, not the whole album.
- The selfie should not be stored. Ask where the face scan runs. In NinjaPic it runs on the guest's phone and only a set of numbers is used to match; the selfie image never leaves the phone.
- Your own branding. The guest page should carry your studio's logo and colours, not someone else's.
- A QR code you can reuse. A fixed QR that you print once and point at each new event saves reprinting.
- Control over quality and time. You decide whether guests can download full-quality files and for how many days the event stays open.
Tips for the wedding day
- Place the QR where guests wait or sit: welcome board, reception tables, bar, photo booth.
- Add one line next to it: "Scan, take a selfie, get your photos."
- Tell the host or emcee to mention it once during the evening.
- Upload a first batch the same night, even a few hundred photos. Guests who find their photos while the event is fresh share them straight away.
Is it only for weddings?
No. The same flow works for birthdays, engagements, corporate events, college fests, school functions and parties: any event with a photographer and guests who want their photos.
NinjaPic lets guests find their own event photos with one selfie. Create your studio or see how it works.
